CONNECT HELPERS

OUR TEAM

YUHA MASUDA

CO-FOUNDER

Hi! I’m Yuha Masuda, a Grade 12 student. Being raised in Hong Kong by a domestic helper, many of my experiences were shared with her and was a female figure I strongly look up to. Unfortunately, I soon learned about the discrimination and abuse faced by these foreign migrant workers. Therefore, I wanted to spread awareness by educating our local and global community about the hardship faced by asylum seekers/migrant workers, and take action toward solving this issue. I firmly stand by our vision of creating a reliable community for migrant workers/asylum seekers to thrive and hope to accomplish that.

DIA SAIKAMALA

CO-FOUNDER

Hi, I am Dia Saikamala, a Grade 12 student. Growing up in Hong Kong, I have constantly been surrounded by domestic helpers, whether this is in my own home or in my local community. From a young age, I noticed the prejudice and discrimination this minority of women has faced, however, it was not until middle school that I started to research more deeply into the treatment of foreign domestic workers in Hong Kong. It was then when I got into contact with the Harmony Baptist Church, an organization we work closely with, and realized I wanted to create change within our local community. Due to developing strong bonds with my domestic helpers, and seeing her as a second mother, I had a personal connection with this issue and felt the need for change. I believe that every migrant worker deserves to be treated with the same kindness and respect we project onto our family members and friends.
